Too bad it's still a nightmare to code websites for. If they made that better, I would run back with arms wide open. But I'm smart enough not to click just anything on the internets.

That's the key there. If you have no idea what you're doing on the internet, sure use IE. But if you're smart and don't click suspicious links you can just use your browser of choice.Greg Tito said:

I have three different browsers on my computer for different purposes. Chrome for speed, Firefox for extensions, old IE for compatibility.

As the version that's going to come bundled into the next version of Windows and which current versions of Windows are going to be bugging their users to install with each new update, IE9 is quite simply going to be the browser with the biggest bullseye on its back.

Good for them. Somehow I doubt if all the people who have developed a mislike for Microsoft are going to suddenly come running back though.
Such a large jump obviously means something though. Microsoft is doing something that other people aren't. (Or maybe they are just getting hit so hard so often that they have dealt with every threat while other browsers have had it easier and thus have more lax security? i.e. the "Mac is virus free" situation.)

Make smarter users and the need for intrusive "Smart Screening" will be meaningless. My children can tell when not to follow a link, why can't most "adults"? Laziness and apathy for the medium. People want computers and moreso the web to just DO what THEY want with no care for anything behind the scenes. Yes this is being written by a system administrator and no I don't really care that most don't care what goes on beyond their "screen". I'd wager that most people don't believe that cars are magical so why should computers and by extension the internet be?
