There's all sorts of laws around transporting hard currency. Like, if I take more than (I think its) $10,000 cash out of the country I have to declare it on a form. As long as I do that, and the reason is legitimate, then its all kosher. So having an undeclared hundred grand on you travelling over seas is one of those "Please explain" moments.

The woman was not traveling over seas, was not arrested, and the cops have given zero reason why the money was taken and held, nor have they bothered to explain what kind of crime might've been committed

The woman now has to sue a police department in another state 950 miles away to prove she's innocent of any wrongdoing to get it back, despite the fact that the cops have zero evidence there was anything un-kosher going on, otherwise the police department gets to keep it and have the mother of all pizza parties and Christmas bonuses

The NRA is one of those infuriating groups everyone, including them, think is some massive organization. And its not. It has a few million members and its mostly a front for international money laundering.
And they don't give a shit about guns or gun safety, that's just the circus they put on for the news.

There's a supremely short list of people and reasons to move that much cash around physically. And basically all of them involve serious criminal enterprise. And I don't mean 'criminal' in the sense of 'existing while black', but things like money laundering, drug trade, the slave trade and so on. There is zero reason for any normal person operating above board to take the serious risk of physically transporting that much hard currency that big a distance in the age of digital transfers. Its very presence is suspicious.

Can’t recall where I read this but seemed to be the best advise regarding these sorts of things. Someone said one of the primary reasons these things keep happening is due to mentally imbalanced/disturbed people seeing the kind of reactions it gets, and they get a power trip from it (ie Mark D. Chapman). So, one of the best ounces of prevention would be to simply stop making such a bloody big deal of them. These things are always massive media circuses dominating cable coverage and full of thoughts and prayers, questions, theories, etc. and wtf has it ever solved? The very publicized chaos, confusion and suffering is a sadist’s dream, and so there will always be another. The results of a quick Google search of “how media coverage creates public shootings” echo this. If anything absolutely needs to be made public it should only be done on a local level and laced with disgust and unfathomable levels of social shaming.

Having said that, when the underlying issue is gun control, the powers that be will make sure it’s on everyone’s mind. Still, it’s interesting to consider the effect media coverage has when public shooting sprees are a pretty recent phenomenon, yet guns have been around since, well, who’s counting.

I dislike social media, but I'm not going to put the blame fully on the sites themselves in this case (Zuckerberg and Facebook and still fuck off and die though(. The fall lies and those I don't take care of their kids, unaware or ignorant of what they're doing, or just the kids themselves. Most of these teens know what they're doing is wrong, they're just delving in to peer pressure or not caring. Though there are plenty of adults who make the same mistake and even more so.
