I've been saying it for as many years as I have known the 40k Universe. There needs to be a straight up large-scale(I'm talking planet-side scale) Battlefield 40K. There are few other IP's out there that have as much depth fleshed out as the 40K franchise, and with the expansive myriad of weapons, vehicles, hero's, psychic abilities, and just every god damn thing in the 40K universe, they could easily make the game that towers over all others. There is very little any other science fiction universe has done that 40K didn't already do, and better. Like its been mentioned, massive battles that pit hundreds of marines alongside thousands of guardsmen, up against thousands of orks and shifting masses of tyranids would be experiences like very few others(and i say that just as a disclaimer, nothing else has come close.) Add in any of the other races, such as my favorites the tau and the necrons, and you cannot go wrong. A team oriented class based 1st person shooting/3rd person melee combat extravaganza, flavored with a gallon of the most bad-ass vehicles to ever be thought out, and I don't see how a triple-A developer cant turn it into a franchise destroying juggernaut of gaming nirvana. My only thought is that they haven't fully grasped around the pure awesome that it could be.
Do you know how impossible that would be? Not to mention the balance issues? And are you going to include every Founding chapter? Cause there are 26 Foundings total giving them roughly 251 "official" Space Marine Chapters (including the First Legions and the ones that turned to Chaos). Each one with its own fighting style, armor patterns, insigna, and history. And thats just one faction. You still have all the Tau Cepts, Dark Eldar Cabals, Eldar Craftworlds, 'Nid Hive Fleets, and Necrons.
Well you could do it with ither the first founding through the heresy or go to the second founding. That would make it manageable for the Astartes. As for the Tau Cepts, DE Cabals and Eldar CW stick to just whats in codex and leave it at that

I hope the campaign mode is a bit longer this time. Don't get me wrong, I really, really liked Space Marine but it was too short and I'm glad I rented it instead of paying full price. For some reason the online on the PS3 version isn't working for me.

I want them to perhaps continue Captain Titus's story, I felt like that game really was only getting interesting at the end.

I had a lot of fun, but I have a better idea. The next game should be "Guardsman". It would feature a campaign in which you'd cower behind a wall, and then have alternate endings in which you'd either be NOM'd by a Tyranid, sliced by a Striking Scorpion, or stomped on by a Chaos Marine. The campaign would be about 5 minutes in length, so it'd probably be better if it's a downloadable title.

That game would still be a mess. Space Marine chapters dont go marching into battle next to other chapters unless its a galaxy wide conflict. You wont see Black Templars marching to war next to Space Wolves. And you still have to address the issues of balance.

They need to keep it fairly small scale in terms of content. The Planetside model works well except bump it from 3 factions to 4. Space Marine vs Eldar vs Chaos vs Dark Eldar for example. So that everyone has a "racial" enemy to fight and then 3 others to pick on from time to time. You dont have a hojillion factions so that it doesnt feel too thin by having all the players spread out. You dont have to worry about aircraft, beef up the vehicles a little, and have the big guys as special "summons" (by "big guys" I mean like a Titan for the SM, the Avatar of Khaine for the Eldar, a Greater Daemon for Chaos, and something equally horrible for the Dark Eldar.)

I don't know jack about 40k, I only got this game to hold me over until Gears 3, but I enjoyed it.

1. NO HORDE? WTF? After all that fighting through the campaign I was hoping for a XBL horde mode.

2. More weapons. Found them a bit lacking.

3. Matchmaking. WTF. Um, I wanted to do Seize ground and it stuck me in Team Slayer.

4. "Stronger" Heavy class: It seems like I can kill them with no problem.

5. Better control: The assault class when you start sword swinging, you hope that you hit your opponent.

Multiplayer comments: Assaults, you better be on the ground, run up to somebody and kill them. Cause honestly, when an Assault wants my head, I roll, give them 3 seconds of Storm bolter and roll again. Buy that time, they are taking out their rage on the nearby wall.... FAIL...

The next game has to be about the Battle of Terra. From the very beginning, to the very end scene aboard the Vengeful Spirit.
You play as a Blood Angel, Imperial Fist, or even as a Custodian.
Oh, and there must be a part where you play as the Sanguinius defending the Eternity Gate.

Or they could just make a game about Space Wolves, because they are awesome.

A mmo.

Highest level you are a commander in charge of a ship with its army(Chapter for SM ect)
You fly around with faction teammates in a open PvP galaxy and do space battles.
One level lower you are in a solar system and do battle there.
Then you get to high orbit of a planet and battle there.
Middle orbit you can send in your units in a paradox style Grand strategy planet wide.
Low orbit you can zoom in on actual battles and control your amry like a RTS.
Then in low orbit you can screw being a RTS commander and join your army with a personal squad. You still get a map to command your army but not on a big a scale as from your ship.

Some other features.

Factions: All 40k factions with homebases. Nids get where the tip of the fleets are. Chaos gets the Eye
All others get planets.

Armies: You all all your men are fully customized. You can choose Who what how many of any unit. So you can make some crazy custom tank army with custom tanks ect.

Ships: Ships have to be nerfed hard from lore...fire power and armor.

Character: Bend the lore so you can be anyone. A Librarian a dreadnought chapter commander ect

Make it freeform and let players shape the galaxy.

Oh and yes most participants in battle will be AI but you could say the armies know where the enemy commanders are so there can be some PvP on the ground.

The ability to take cover behind your massive shoulder plates. Really, it would make them seem more useful and it would certainly put a new tactical element into the shooting aspect.

Your tanks mean nothing.
As far as i know, the Titans doesn't work for Space Marine. So what do you got? Land raiders?
If you stick with the Space Marines from the novels and not the table top, all it takes is one with a pair of lightning claws and those tanks get shreaded like butter.
