While we're at it, hugging your sister is incest and petting your dog is bestiality.

Only the most insecure of people would actually think this.

Agreed.

OT: I hug more of my male friends than female friends.

Dunno why. Maybe there is a hint at something deeper and that's why my male friends are more comfortable with it because they don't think I want anything more than a hug. I think people are more ready to assume/accept platonic love between two heterosexual guys than a heterosexual guy and a chick.

I don't hug most my guy friends. Not a full on both arms around them kind anyway. I do the "bro hug" as I've heard it called. Hand shake, one armed hug/chest bump kinda thing. I wouldn't say I'm against a real hug though. Just that with some friends, it's not how we do things. My 2 closest friends we give "daps" or the fist bump, whatever you want to call it.

Why would it gay? Only if there was sexual tension or something...

For example: i like women... being the man i am, i am secure of my own sexuality, so things like hugging another man, or doing gay jokes doesnt bother me... cuz im secure of who and what i am.

So its up to you... off course if your friend feels sexualy insecure i would not advice it... its a stupid thing of him to think that aniways.... unless he really is gay... or thinks you are...

A bro hug is fine but if two guys start cuddling or something as they hugged then that would suggest otherwise.

Your friend probably said no thanks to your hug offer because he is probably a little insecure about hugging another guy. I'm sort of the same way although occasionally I'll give a bro hug to one of my friends.

It's only gay if... well, if you're gay. You could theoretically have sex with each other without it being gay. Seriously, come over here and I'll prove it to you.

In Sweden it's very common to hug friends as a greeting and when we say goodbye.
I guess we're all gay and gonna go extinct any generation from now.

I think it all really comes down to how long, close, and "touchy" the hug is... and if there's any moaning.

...definitely if there's moaning.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
you kids today, why in my day everyone knew it was only gay if balls were touching, and we liked it that way

Obviously yes. If two men hug that means they are romantically and sexually attracted to each other and want to engage in intercourse.

But seriously, there's this absurd stigma people place on male intimacy For some reason it's considered acceptable for girls to be close to each other, but not for guys.

It's totally gay...if you're both naked.
I LOL'd.

OT: Of course it (clothes on hugging) isn't gay. Some people might be weirded out by it (including me, depends on the person), but if you are both comfortable doing it, I can't see why it's a problem.

This American puritanism-homophobia crap needs to die.

Just sayin'.

Jeez I must be a raging homosexual as I hug my guy friends all the time, heck it's how we greet each other. I don't see anything wrong with hugging your bros.

If hugging a male friend is gay, I'm perhaps the least straight man on Earth. I hug my friends for literally no reason and there's a lot of times when we would start group hugs in the middle of our classrooms.

If hugging my male friends makes me gay, then boy am I flaaaaaaaming.

Nothing wrong with a good bromance, nothing whatsoever. There are so many times where I've up and hugged friends for absolutely no reason, or just because I've felt like a hug, doesn't make me gay. I'm still an entirely straight male, I just don't see why that should preclude me from being able to hug a close friend, regardless of gender.
