What did you waste your Masterball on?

A Ditto. My brother insisted. Neither of us knew which pokemon was which, but apparently Ditto was rare and amazing. I don't remember having any trouble catching the legendary birds though, and Mewtwo was easy, even though I was using a Venomoth against him. I must have been rampantly overlevelled and very lucky with my ball-tossing.

I'm always lucky with my tossing.

That's not the first time I've heard of someone using their master ball on a ditto. My friend found one randomly in Gold I think and threw the only ball he had. I practically leapt across the room in slo-mo to stop him.
Naturally as all of my friends growing up played the shit outta pokemon, we've all got our little stories of ruined shit (e.g. the time I restarted a game of Gold for fun and accidentally saved over my team of level 100s), which is actually how this thread came about. I was talking with my best mate about it and we wondered how many other people have made terrible mistakes like us.


As it turns out, it's a lot.

Only masterball I ever used was on Mewtwo in Blue.

I felt like I cheated and never used one again.

I played the game late enough to know to wait for mewtwo. My neighbour however, he wasted it on a caterpie. Even to this day he has never lived it down.

Used my first one on Ho Oh, to me it was still a bit of a waste as I could used it on something more powerful, but at least it wasn't silly.

I have a whole bunch of them because I never liked using them, using them felt like such a waste so I traded them across games. The roaming ones were kinda worth it (Entie, Suicine, Riakou, Latios, Latias, Cressellia, Tornadus, Thunderus etc.)

Although I did once meet a guy who thought the whole purpose of the game was to exhaust an area of pokemon - a kinda literal Gotta catch em all. And progressed through the game but always heading back to to Veridian forest trying to catch EVERY pokemon in the area until no more would appear. I think he used the Masterball on a Weedle

Last time I played Pokemon (I think it was a few weeks ago...) I still had my master ball. And I also had the three regi's as well as Goudon. (Ruby Don't have newones) So I have not wasted it yet.

I think that the very first pokemon that I used the Masterball on was an Articuno. Recently, I used a Masterball on accident on, I believe it was a farfetch'd... It took so long to catch suicune without that.

for some reason i am really lucky when it comes to legendary pokemon most of time. i caught mewtwo with a repeat ball, the three flying legendarys with pokeballs, and still had/have my masterball. i always use the masterball on one of the pokemon that run the second the battle starts and are too fast to put to sleep before that.

Oh fuck that always makes me lol, the thought of a sleeping Entei roaming the wilderness.

Mainly because of this comic.

Well when i played pokemon black I got all the dogs and only had Landoros left so i just chucked it at him. (Besides in Black you can get more Master balls)
In Sapphire i caught the box one because i was annoyed at it.
In Pearl i used it on one of the lake spirits.

Zapdos in the orignial Blue version. I tried four times (I reloaded my save) to catch that ***** with 40 Ultra Balls, when it was asleep and had a sliver of health. At that point, I gave up, reloaded my save again, and just used the Master Ball. The Zapdos was worth it, though. That thing was really helpful in beating the Elite Four. So I didn't consider it a waste....... until I saw that there was a level 70 Mewtwo.

My very first playthrough? I managed to capture that Articuno douche who was so mean to me so many times in a row. SHOWED HIM WHO'S BOSS!

I used mine in ruby on Groudon without realizing there was one of those bastard roaming pokemon to catch. Speaking of which you can count using it on one of the three bastard dogs in silver because you'd have to be sherlock fucking holmes to catch all three of those.

I had all three in Gold :3

In Red, I used it the first time on MewTwo, because the legendary birds were easy to catch for me.
In Yellow, I used it on some high level Kadabra that totally wrecked my Pokemons when I fought it and wanted to catch it.
In Gold I used it on Lugia because it was level 70. Entei, Raikou and Suicune as well as Ho-oh were easy compared to that silver bastard.
In Crystal, I can't remember.

My first one was used on a Zapdos in my original Fire Red file.
Because of that, I had an epic 2 hour battle with Venasuar, Nidoking, Zapdos, and Articuno against Mewtwo trying to catch him.
