I had heard of the game, but didn't really know (or care) what it was about. I'm still not going to play it, but now I can say I have reasons. Yay!

To everyone whining about the commercials, why don't you instead whine to The Escapist asking them to allow you 'special access' for a fee. Then you could have your commercial free content, and they could pay their bills.

For the rest of us who didn't eat the pretty paint chips:

The review is in the front part. I watch it. Then the commercial comes on AFTER the review. If I do not want to watch it, I can turn it off. Rather nice that way. So for all I care they could post a 1 hour commercial after every Zero Punctuation...as long as it's afterwards.

PS: Yes I hate the 'new' intro, but I suppose it was unavoidable what with copyright and such on the music. =\

I thought he underlined the absolute 'suck' of this game very well, thank god for reviewers integrity! I barely made it three hours into the game before I quit. I award Too Human 'Worst Game I've Played this Year'.
you dont play many games then? ;-)

Video isn't working for me in FireFox still, so I haven't seen the video.

Still, I skipped most of the comments and wonder if anyone has actually played the game? And I don't mean the two minutes you spent on the demo and then judged the game because you were actually playing it wrong (trust me, you were).

Ugh. Nevermind. Not even going to bother arguing. All I have to say is this only further confirms to me that gamers are their own worst enemy, and only have themselves to blame when developers do nothing but rip each other off. The ones that try to do something new are taken to the slaughter.

EDIT: Ok, video worked for me.

On melee: maybe it's because I play the Berserker class, one designed specifically for melee, but I found that pointing a stick at the enemies I wanted to bust up to flow incredibly smoothly. Not to mention making intelligent use of some of the abilities to create some nice combos.

If I didn't know better I'd insist that Yahtzee played the demo and nothing more.

On death: they actually did place a consequence. Your equipment slowly deteriorates, which causes it to slowly get worse. Of course, it isn't very noticeable and you'll be switching out so much equipment that the small amount that it decreases doesn't matter.

There's a lot that Yahtzee is correct about, but there's a complete lack of addressing what the game did right. Then again, it is clear that Yahtzee will never like a game that is dedicated to good combat.

And because the combat was designed to be something DIFFERENT as opposed to constantly clicking on an enemy, naturally gamers will hate it. Because it's new.

Nice review, it's always good when you can unleash on a bad game.

I was only slightly interested in Too Human to start with, but the deal breaker for me was the demo. The combat was unbelievably bland and there was a lot of it. The death animation with the valkyrie might have been kind of cool but after the second time I died I didn't even bother waiting for it to finish before quitting the demo.
Dude, you just described my experience with the game word for word...

a 5 minutes ad? Really? 5 minutes?

More ads than the ZP video?

What kind of fucked up business model is that
The kind aimed at making money.

I totally agree. Quit whining!

At the risk of being labelled one of Yahtzee's Rabid Fans (tm) I have to say that the older, relevant, choices of musical intro and outro were far superior to this. Sorry, Ian.

However, at the same time I realise that if I am looking for a review of music or such I am looking in the wrong place.

Also, to the guys and gals getting worked up about the ad at the end: um, there is a little 'pause' button. And a little 'close tab' button. It's not difficult.

The demo was alright, I thought the combat would be fixed by the time the game released so I really had no problem with the combat. The combat feeling sticky was really fucking annoying.

NO, it's because the right analog stick should only be used for one thing.

Good review. The beginning bit about christianity was spot on really.

The game is a bit more fun when you play co-op, however it's limited to a two person co-op and nothing else, which kind of blows. With all the bloody loot drops and customization the game feels like it's trying to be an epic MMORPG minus the MM and half the O part of the genre. For me I found being the Commando (Specializes in firearms and less in melee) was much easier as the right analog for melee was an absolute horseshit idea.

I got the game to play with a friend of mine, knowing full way I would trade it in later, which I'm going to do, and put the trade towards AC4A

OH SILICON KNIGHTS! WHY HATH THOU FORSAKEN US! Twas thou that brought us the somewhat clunky yet piece of writing gold that was Blood Omen! How far hast thou fallen!

I truely wanted Too Human to be an intruiging epic that lived up to the heritage of both it's developer and it's mythos. And yet, I knew from the start it would burn like a turd lit on fire. It's trailer video was boring and slow, the in game footage looked boring and slow, the character animation and personalities looked boring and slow. WHAT happened? I want to KNOW!

I played the demo of this game and quit within like 5 minutes, it was just terrible. Somebody told me how awesome it was and to give it a chance, and I was sad I wasted the effort downloading it.

Though dang, I was hoping you would review spore (is it out in Australia yet?)

I wub spore <3

I never played Too Human, or read any real reviews about it. All I know is that I work at a store that sells games, and after hearing tons of hype for Too Human, we got exactly one copy in on release date. So far, no one has come in looking to buy it.

Yay, warhammer online! Too bad they had that weird add with some rambling british guy in the front. I hate those adds.
