That is definatly a really good trailor. Not much gameplay in it, but I'll be keeping my eyes open for more information on this game at the very least. I couldn't help but notice that the animations were really good too; the graphics were a little lower than a lot of modern games but the characters moved extreamly naturally. I hope they can work this into gameplay, that'll be fun.

But as a trailer, the Dead Island one strikes me as a calculated bore that ticks every single cliché box over the past few years on how to make trailers and adds the kid into the mix to scrounge up the edge factor into it.
Talk about cynicism... yeesh.
A cynic is just a person with enough experience to know better.
And a negative interpretation of that experience. To each, their own though.

That was a great trailer though even if the game ends up sucking. That was a lot better then what you see Hollywood do nowadays.

And now we wait for the news to claim this promotes child abuse?

The trailer is fantastic (A word I rarely use) and really is emotional. From what details there are of this game, it looks like it's going to turn out to be amazing.

That trailer, in it's own right, is so fucking impressive. I don't care if the actual game turns out to be a whole load of bullcrap, but this trailer... wow... Definitely a must see.

Now I'm cautiously interested in this game.

Resident Evil.

Wish granted.
I never really liked the RE gameplay, I respect the series, yes, and I like it, but I can't deal with the gameplay o.o

It's about time that they announced this. I've been waiting for this game to come out since... well, before L4D came out. Yeah, that long. It had better be fried gold.

Judging by most reactions, I'm probably desensitized, because the trailer had no effect on me. I saw a damage trailer labeled dead island a few years ago.
EDIT: found it again: [http://www.gametrailers.com/video/multi-layer-damage-dead-island/27907]

Dead Rising 1&2 is 3rd person. Keep that in mind. I don't like 1st person either, but L4D is pretty fun. Resident Evil 2 is the best of the series in my opinion, not that 4 wasn't good, but it wasn't my cup of tea. I'll give Dead Island a chance.

do NOT want.

The uncanny valley has been crossed and I really don't feel comfortable playing a game that close to reality.
Well, like books and movies, games are around to cross the boundary. Remember the scandal with Resident Evil and the blood it showed? Remember Manhunt and it's... it's everything? Remember GTA's Hot Coffee? Mass Effect's romance scenario?

Games are meant to push a boundary, make you think, and let you experience something not completely real. IF someone does take this game to heart and started massicaring a hotel, then God help the bystandards, but for entertainment games are still good.

Look for the Games Raw Danger and Disaster Report, they have cheesy graphics now, but they make a real scenario with disasters and put you in a disaster situation. Technically it helps the player realize things about thier own surroundings and makes them think, prepares them for the situation.

Not that zombies are going to happen, but a game can ask, "What if?" What if Zombies attack? Do you want someone who hasn't associated with the games and thought about it, or do you want someone who has played the games and thought things through? Replace the word Zombie and you can see what I mean more clearly.

I was silent during the whole trailer. If this game has zombie children (which it probably will have based on the trailer) I will really be disturbed and will try to avoid them like the plague.
Heck,it's probably going to be the first game where I will even hesitate to go too close to any of the zombies.

It won't stop me from buying the game though. It looks like a game that will tug at my emotions, it's hard for me to find that in most games.

Now I'm sad :(

Kinda makes it harder to kill zombies when it is a child zombie. But on the other hand, I'm sure the person that was zombified wouldn't want it any other way. Love it when games make me think about stuff like this :D

I'm pretty sure the mainstream media will be all over this, failing to grasp the true meaning behind the trailer. It's not about mindlessly killing children, it's about a parent making the hardest decision, killing what once used to be their world, because she has been reduced to a mindless beast in a blink of an eye. I wish this spirit remains throughout the whole game, instead of just being clever marketing for another zombie grinder.
