Now I love a good meat pie as much as the next man: I have a particular fondness for steak and kidney pies.

But to disavow fruit pies!? *shakes head sadly* that's simply madness...

OT: Yes, pie is good, but nothing can defeat the savory, delicious taste of cookies. Nothing!
Salty cookies?

Blech!

... You do know that savoury means "salty" right?

Man, I really want to eat pie now...

I have two chicken pies in the freezer..

Its 11pm, now is not the time to be eating pie...

But pie is tasty... ugh...

Curse this thread...

But don't curse pie... Beautiful tender pie...

Tell you what, give me the best reason you can think of as to why I should eat one of those pies right now and I will.

FYI I am also british.
Because if you do not then the british food god shall smite you down! Then he shall kill Stephen Fry because you have not eaten that pie!
OH SNAP!

For the sake of Stephen Fry, I shall eat that goddamn pie!

...and I was probably going to anyway...

Also mince Pies TASTE LIKE COCK. Yuck!
How do you know what cock tastes like? o_o

And by the way OP, go to hell. You put down our sweet, delicious, soul healing pies, in favor of what is essentially a ham sandwich. You are walking a thin line my friend. One more thread against our precious food stuffs and America will have no choice but to invade the UK.

you have been warned
Gonna guess you think I'm a guy... LOL.

You should try the pasties from my work, you'll never leave, aha.

I was raised in Melton Mowbray, they take their pies *very* seriously there, and with good reason.

Though oddly enough, before then I lived in Syston, home of the Pukka pie...

Because it's pie. Beautiful, beautiful pie. Like a buxom, slightly smelling of pastry and meat, barmaid giving you a "come hither look", unless you're otherwise engaged with another pie....woman, there is no reason NOT to let yourself be tempted...

I love your threads and I love pies. I also adore pasties so much.

Surely pasties deserve a mention? They are beautiful creations and less messy through consumption, being designed to be man-handled in the process.

I feel that a mention for good ol' Colman's is in order, I have a feeling that the majority of our American folk on here have never tasted true English mustard.

Dear lord, it also seems you forgot the macaroni pie:

They are insanely Scottish, but tasty none-the-less.

Unless you intend to post recipes for EVERY SINGLE ONE of those pies then I'll.... I'll... have to go Google them myself!

Awesome, awesome thread. That Cornish Pasty is borderline pornographic.
Every now and again, I am so thankful to be British.

By the way, I fear you may have left one important type of pie out: the Fish Pie. It's a staple of British pubs, goes well with almost any beer/wine/cider, and tastes amazing. Cheap to make too (and fish is basically meat, right?).

Daystar I love your threads, they are so true!
Pies are in fact pure awesome in pastry. Every-time I make someone a pie at work, be it Steak and Ale, Game Pie or the new and improved Chicken, Bacon and Leek Pie, I think to myself; that customer gets it.

Well can't an American like me eat a pot pie loaded with delicious chicken, beef and gravy? The only sweet pies I eat are when my mom feels like baking an apple pie!

You use that in pretty much every single one of these threads. You use them in a good way, cookies are definetly not savoury. They can only be enjoyed in the Maryland chocolate chip variety with a cup of tea!
Patrick Stewart has a vested interest in British food.

He won't take any shit from no one.

We're all buff and shit from eating proper meat pies, while you, on the other hand, will probably die halfway through due to diabetes and sugar withdrawel.
