Jeez, why does this thread keep getting buried? Is nobody excited about Fallout 3?

I am! I'm making a Vault Dweller costume for Halloween (and the midnight release, if I finish it soon enough)!
Holy crap. YOU. MUST. POST. PICS.

Pleeeeeease.
Ask, and ye shall receive [http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=39432872&albumID=1157045&imageID=44910252].

ONE guy at the bar knew what I was dressed as. He was a gamer, and we talked games for awhile. This one drunk chick thought she knew:

"Oh, hey, you're that guy...from that one movie..."
"Actually, it's from a video game-"
"No, gimme a second, what was that movie called..."
"Uh, it's not from a movie..."
"Yeah, I can't remember..." (drunken rambling and staggering away)

Well money was the main issue for me for a while, not a lack of places to buy from, but if you head to rivet city (SE corner of the map) then the gun shop there has plenty of supplies. Not that difficult to get to and the second or third stage of quests for the Wilderness Survival Guide (from the Megaton shopkeeper) adds the location as an objective - or the third part of the main quest.

right now my character looks like Gordon Freeman in Power Armor wielding a sledgehammer or a .44, depending on the situation

Also, anyone know how to hotkey items on the console versions? It says you can, but I can't figure out how.

in your inventory, hold the right bumper (R2 I think on the PS3)

then hit a D-Pad direction

then using that direction button live in game, you'll use that item/switch to that weapon/armor

Do you know how to do that on the PC? :3

I got this damn game today, the shop I went into only had the collectors edition left so I had to shell out an extra £10. Still, got a lovely little booklet full of concept art which was pretty sweet. Didn't think much of the making-of documentary though, they didn't really seem to tell me anything interesting and ended up repeating themselves a lot, along with that infuriating patting-themselves-on-the-back thing that those kind of videos tend to devolve into.

I really enjoyed agonizing over character creation, not wanting to sacrifice anything but knowing I had to in order to have some good skills at the start. Decided to go for the small guns/lockpicking/sneaky/agile-intelligent type. So far I'm having a blast, still doing stuff in and around megatonne, but the town and it's inhabitants are starting to really piss me off and I'm totally empathising with Burke and his contempt for the place, so I reckon I'm gonna go to the dark side and kaboom the warhead.

Once you get "The Terrible Shotgun"(it is in Evergreen Mills, get it for killing a merchant) you just own everything. Hide and wait till they reload then run up into their faces and show them the law.

The scoped .44 has to be my favorite gun. I am pretty damn far into the game and ammo/stimpacks are not a problem anymore. I am really well stocked up.

There is some level scaling I have noticed. I am running into Super Brute Mutant Masters now. I am lv17.

How come the PC version lets you kill children? Or is it going to be a mod?

bet gun is the gatling laser IMO.

it's basically a minigun with no warmup time.

I just finished the game... and the ending kind of sucked, but it was the best I could expect considering how many variables went into it.

Beest part is the

big robot at the end. I was just slackjawed the whole time he was pwning everything..

They should lock some storyline specific doors. That or tigthen the dialogue trees. I just came across vault 112 entirely by accident. Funny part is the only part of the main quest I've done is talk to the Irish guy in the bar.

Got the game yesterday, after a "few" hours of playing, I can say that I like the game, somewhat. Main problem isn't that it's too much like Oblivion, but rather too little like Fallout... I think something that could improve the game is the music from the original Fallouts... They gave a more "wastelandy" feeling than the music (not the radio) in Fallout 3...

The best part of the game: Rock-It Launcher. Nothing better than getting a critical headshot with a teddy bear and having enemies head explode.
